Andy Stothard, from Scunthorpe, New Lincolnshire, UK, is the next guy who took a little of his time and answered on our seven questions. Andy blew his knee open on his USA trip back in 2011 pretty bad, knows pirates are called pirates and enjoys shredding trails. Find more after the jump.
1. Name, Location, Sponsors.
Andy Stothard, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, UK.
Fatality BMX, GYPO, Forward.
2. The best place to ride.
3. What do you think about BMX community?
It changed a lot over the time I’ve been riding, seems a lot more mainstream with kids wanting to become pros before they can even ride but at least the whole community can be brought together through the hate for scooters.
4. What was your worst injury on or off your bike?
USA trip 2011 at Incline Club. Flipped out a 6ft ¼ aiming to land on the deck to 3 into the ¼ afterwards. I flipped and just went up and was as high as the kid next to the ramp and just landed in sprocket smashed my knee through my knee pad and blew my knee open needing stitches but shouldn’t have been riding from ruining my ankle at Woodward but it was a once in a lifetime trip.
5. Tell a joke for kids.
why are pirates called pirates? ‘Cause they arrrrrrrrrrrr.
6. What is your opinion about mellonBMX and online BMX contests?
Decent! Always up to date with latest news in BMX with a wide range of edits of all aspects of riding with known and unknown riders.
7. Who would you like to thank?
Suppose I best thank my parents and my own brother for selling me a BMX when I was 12. Ben at Fatality, Sasse and Stanny at Gypo for running the trails, all the lads at the barn. Gaz at Forward. The original Jamboree lads I ride with on a daily basis and Pete, Mouse, Azz and all the guys I used to ride with that influenced and corrupted me in my tender years. Also thank to Leo and Brad for the edits.
