It is my honor to present you our next Mellon 7′s interview. This time we caught up with non other than Tampa, Florida based Matt Coplon. Matt is in the game for way more years than I am and is still doing it strong. He sure knew how to have fun back in the days. Take a quick read after the jump, check a few action photos and make sure you follow Matt’s blog.
1. Name, Location, Sponsors.
Matt Coplon, Tampa, Florida (AKA The Sunshine State).
Profile Racing, Deco, The Skatepark of Tampa, Country, Folklore and Etnies.
2. The best place to ride.
Street in Tampa, and The Skatepark of Tampa of course!
3. What do you think about BMX community?
Its my life’s blood. My extended family. I’d probably lose my mind if I didn’t have it as my backbone.
4. What was your worst injury on or off your bike?
Off my bike: When I was a child I got pushed off of baseball bleachers backwards. Somehow I only broke my arm but I landed on my head.
5. Tell a joke for kids.
At our local riding spot when growing up, we used to attach fishing line to dollar bills and lay them out at the major intersection.
People would reach out of their cars, grab the money, and when they’d pull away we yank it out of their car.
6. What is your opinion about mellonBMX and online BMX contests?
The more interaction the better! We’re all one big bmx family…I think the monthly contests are a great idea for both exposure and to keep rider’s creative interests on high.
Why sit back and be complacent??
7. Who would you like to thank?
Profile for employing me for 12 years. My wife, my cat, my family and friends. And all the people/riders/companies that I’m lucky to be associated with/a part of.
