This is a bit unusual welcome to the team edit, but still pretty damn cool. Street shredder Diogo Santos is the newest addition to the Vans team and this whole edit is basically a re-edit from this flat rail/ledge session. Filmed and edited by Pedro Seca.
Malcolm Peters and Eric Palmer are back with the second episode of The Moe Show. This Cape Town, South Africa rider threw down some banging moves on the trails (there is also a clip from the street and a few from parks in here). This is a must see.
Malcolm would also like to thank Monster Energy, SalvoBikeCo and Vans for all the support.
Guys over at Figure BMX come up with and idea and Vans was there to support it. They took Adrien Lecomte, built a wooden quarter pipe and hit various spots around Lyon, France. The idea is awesome and all those spots are so damn good. If you have the fourth issue of the magazine, you already saw all those awesome shots they made.
South Africa based rider Greg Illingworth is the newest addition to the Vans Europe team. Greg moved from Johannesburg to Newcastle, UK to focuse even more on riding. Read what Andy has to say below.
“Having Greg in the team is just great and I couldnt be happier. ! ! ! Beside his unique an full throttle riding style he brings a lot of personality and energy to the team. He represents the perfect image what Vans stands for and next to the other 11 guys on the team I can now say that we have a hell of a dirty dozen, haha!”– Andy Zeiss, Vans TM
This is one fine trails edit, I say. Willem, Sig, Fourcheke and Jelle from Grounded BMX recently (not really recently, probably in the summer of 2012) went on a trip through France and Spain visiting some really dope, shaped and clean trails. They also made a stop at the Euro Park in Tosa de Mar, where 2012 Vans Rebeljam went down. Click and enjoy the beauty.
This is one big news. Chase Hawk has officially left the Vans team and has joined the Etnies squad. Read bellow what Aaron Ross tweeted about it:
“I wanna say I couldn’t be more excited to welcome one of my best and oldest friends to the Etnies team! Welcome Chase, love you bud.”
I think we would all love to see the welcome to the team edit now.
“Jan. 2, 2013 (Lake Forest, CA) – etnies is ringing in the new year by signing Chase Hawk, one of BMX’s most progressive riders, to its team. With his speed, smooth style and unrivaled ability to boost incredibly high, Chase Hawk is the rider to watch in 2013. Welcome to the etnies BMX team, Chase!”
“Joining the etnies BMX family means a lot to me,” said Chase Hawk. “I’ve been psyched on the team ever since I was a little kid so to finally get the opportunity to work with everyone is going to be awesome. I plan on 2013 being a busy year with etnies producing a ‘welcome to the team’ edit, new product and starting to film for the next full-length etnies video. Thanks again to [team manager] Povah and etnies for giving me the chance to be a part of the team” – Chase Hawk
John Povah, etnies BMX Team Manager said: “From a very young age Chase Hawk’s evident talents have set the bar high for creating milestones in BMX. He’s arguably a rider, if not the rider, that other riders wish to emulate and will routinely stop what they’re doing to watch ride. Chase now starts a new chapter in his life as part of the etnies BMX team. It’s overdue, so I’m really stoked that Chase wanted to ride for etnies. He brings a considerable amount to the table and can now be part of something special that he can truly feel proud of. I also think having Chase as part of the team will excite, energize and build on an already amazing team and brand. Welcome to the family Chase!”
JC Pieri put together some of his best work from 2012 in this demo reel, to show you what he did and where he traveled over the year. There are clips from Red Bull Skylines contest, from Vans Rebeljam, from Woodward and from plenty other projects JC did.
The year is coming to it’s end, so guys over at Ave BMX in Poland wanted to come out with something new, something fresh. They got for you Lukasz Pluta’s aka Piro’s web edit that was in the works over the past year and came out really solid. Piro has style, huge pop and tons of tricks, so this is something you don’t wanna miss.
It is one day before the end of the world, so yes, we need to quickly post a fresh new Mellon 7’s interview up here. This time we got Eduards Zunda from Latvia, who has been really busy this past year. He won this year’s The Hunt video contest (if you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend you to do it ASAP), recently got hooked up by Odyssey and dropped a few really great edits through the year. Take a little of your time and read what are Ed’s answers after the jump.
It looks like all you Huntington Beach, California locals are getting a new Vans “Off The Wall” skatepark, that will be opened in spring next year. Read below the press release and two more photos of this amazing skatepark after the jump.
“VANS’ OFF THE WALL SKATEPARK AND GARAGE SKATE SHOP COMING TO HUNTINGTON BEACH SPRING 2013.
Featuring Huge Lit Bowl and Street Skate Plazas, the Park will be Free to the Public.
Huntington Beach, CA (December 13, 2012) – Vans and Jack’s Surfboards today began construction of a 30,000 square foot Off the Wall Skatepark and Garage Skate Shop with a “ground breaking” ceremony in Huntington Beach. The park complex, expected to open in early spring, will be free to the public and features two lighted skate areas catering to both bowl and street skating, the Garage Skate Shop combined with a skate park pro shop and snack bar, landscaped seating areas, restrooms and drinking fountains. Vans is making a long-term, multi-million dollar investment in the Huntington Beach community with the project.
“We’re excited for the opportunity to work with Jack’s to bring a world-class skate park to Huntington Beach for the entire community to enjoy,” said Vans President Kevin Bailey. “Vans and Jack’s are both Orange County-grown originals and the Off the Wall Skatepark underscores our commitment to skaters and BMX riders in the area.”
“Although known as “Surf City,” Huntington Beach is arguably the Action Sports capital of the world,” said Doug Palladini, Vans Vice President, Marketing. “We appreciate the City of Huntington Beach and especially the City Council giving us the opportunity to build this incredible park that will inspire the next generation of skateboarders and BMX riders.”
Located on Center Avenue just east of Gothard Street, Off the Wall Skatepark design will combine street and transition features within the 30,000 square foot lighted park. The park includes a 15,000 square foot bowl area with a competition, backyard, and beginner bowl and a 12,000 square foot street plaza with enough features to please every type of rider. Vans skateboard legend and Huntington Beach resident Christian Hosoi contributed to the intricacies of the bowl design in collaboration with California Skateparks who designed the overall park layout and will direct construction.
The on-site, 3,000 square foot Garage Skate Shop will double as a fully-stocked skate shop featuring Vans and other top brands and a pro shop with skate equipment and rentals. The building design strives to minimize environmental impact utilizing re-purposed shipping containers in its construction. This will be the third Garage Skate Shop following the Huntington Beach Main Street store and a location in Dana Point.
The Off the Wall Skatepark is Vans’ second skate park in Orange County, following the Vans Skatepark built in 1998 at the Outlets at Orange.”
